As part of Bournemouth Borough Council's vision for the future of the centre of Bournemouth, DREW has been actively involved on a number of regeneration projects in this area of the town, either in Partnership with Waterlooville-based ICEE for our Client, Morgan Management or, as in the case of Albert Road, Main Contractor for our Client Company, Former Sorting Office (Bournemouth) Ltd.
Completed in August 2017, this exciting £6.6m project is located in a narrow side street of central Bournemouth. Comprising 83 studio apartments and two ground floor retail units over a total of 6 floors, this is our largest scheme to date in the regeneration process. Design is by architectural practice Anders Roberts Cheer. Procured on a negotiated basis, under a Design & Build contract.

As a member of the Town Centre BID (Business Improvement District) Board, one-time President of the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade, and one-time Chair of the Town Centre Management Board, and having traded in Bournemouth Town Centre for over 40 years, the regeneration of so many commercial and residential properties is to be celebrated, as it not only confirms confidence in our Town Centre's future, but also preserves our valued Victorian architecture. Shops extensively refitted for modern trading requirements and ergonomic expectations will attract a wide and dynamic new generation of retail offer and linked with the Bournemouth Development Company's continuing drive to increase Town Centre residential housing, an ever-growing captive audience will be on hand to support businesses accommodated by the new private landlord drive towards regeneration.

DREW, in conjunction with Waterlooville-based ICEE, have transformed derelict retail units and flats in Old Christchurch Road. The works, at the former Bella Italia and Pizza Hut units, has undergone much needed refurbishment in line with the commitment of Bournemouth Borough Council to regenerate parts of the Town Centre. The mixed development has comprised the complete refurbishment of the ground floor retail units and flats above to create 16 new high specification apartments, and bringing new life to the business units which had been empty for several years, thus delivering greater overall visual appeal to the area.
Our works in St Peter's Road comprised the refurbishment and conversion of a dilapidated three-storey building into 16 high-specification one-bedroom apartments for the private rental market. Internally, the room layouts were reconfigured to maximise the accommodation. During the construction period we were awarded a further substantial refurbishment contract for this Client, to the rear of the building - 82-88 Old Christchurch Road (see above).
DREW, in conjunction with Waterlooville-based ICEE, is nearing completion of this £2m scheme to refurbish and reconfigure Vandale House - a former office building unoccupied for the past 20 years. When complete, the building will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom luxury apartments with balconies, over a total of four floors.
This high profile project comprised the refurbishment and restoration of the existing lower ground floor of the Grade II listed Bournemouth Pavilion to create a showcase centre for dance, in conjunction with Dance South West. This was followed by a similar scheme to form a Drama Centre. More than 1 million people visit this area each year, and we are proud to have been able to work with Bournemouth Borough Council to deliver these unique projects.view project
