This project comprised the construction of a new Youth Centre and office for the local Youth Support Worker, located on an informal public open space of multi-functional nature incorporating football, cricket pitches, play area, skate park, bowling green and all-weather tennis courts.
The building has a main activity space, two offices, a medical room, fully fitted commercial kitchen, store room and toilets, and is of traditional construction in face brick and blockwork with the central space displaying a vaulted ceiling. On instruction of the Client an office and staircase were added to the first floor roof void during the course of the works. Floors to the kitchen, main youth space, corridors, storeroom and toilets are finished in a resin particle flooring system.
A grass grid roadway has been laid for access by emergency vehicles, along with paviors surrounding the building, which was constructed to replace a much smaller timber structure that had reached the end of its useful life.
