The project involved delivery of a single storey extension to the existing school to form a 1.5 form entry. The accommodation comprises shared teaching space, formation of two class bases, refurbishment of WC's and Library, together with external works including a new play area. Constructed in brick, timber and glass, with an aluminium sheeted 'butterfly' roof.
There was very limited access to the working area, with a temporary road formed adjacent to the school Hall, requiring daily liaison with the school We worked collaboratively with the Client to resolve some initial design problems, and completed the scheme on time and to budget.
I cannot let the moment pass without writing to express my thanks and appreciation for the efforts you and your subcontractors made to achieve the successful completion of the extension to Colden Common Primary School. It was delivered on time and to a very high standard of workmanship. this was due in no small part to the helpful and collaborative approach of the site team, who were proactive in resolving problems, and who made every effort to keep the project on programme despite several setbacks. The finished building is a sensitive and well executed addition to an award winning Hampshire School. I would also like to give special mention to subcontractors Marco Glass, whose outstanding efforts to resolve the problems associated with the windows and high level pressings enabled us to remain on programme. Throughout the project your staff were always courteous and helpful towards the school, maintaining good communication. Consequently, the feedback from them has been excellent. I too found your team highly professional and a pleasure to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend working with them again.Claire Cockburn, Project Architect Hampshire County Council
