This project comprised the construction of two extensions to provide an Art Room and 3 Science classrooms with associated preparation rooms, toilets and offices. A lift was also installed together with link structure at first floor level connecting the existing school to the new Science laboratories, which enabled the school to comply with DDA requirements.
The Art Block and Science Block extensions are positioned separately on either side of the main school access road and student thoroughfare. It was therefore essential that detailed health and safety procedures were addressed and put in place prior to commencement on site. These arrangements were enforced and strictly controlled by our Site Management Team throughout the course of the project. Both extensions were to be constructed concurrently, but had separate completion dates. It was identified during the planning process tha the Science extension would hold the critical path with the programme drafted accordingly. Late discovery of a previously unidentified water main resulted in re-programming of the whole project. We were able to re-work the critical path whilst still achieving the Client's required completion dates for both extensions.
