This demanding scheme comprised the conversion on a design and build basis, of an existing city centre RC frame office building into 43 apartments, 4,000 ft2 of retail space and 4 new skyline apartments. The additional accommodation at roof level was designed and constructed using a hybrid steel and timber frame construction.
The city centre location presented many varied planning and logistical challenges, particularly the extreme confines of the site; the existing building occupied 90% of the available space on site.
I have no hesitation in stating that DREW carried out the work to the highest standard with a good technical and management structure, which met with the aspirations of the Client. This Practice was involved throughout the site works and noted their care in achieving good standards of construction and resultant finishes. Monthly meetings were held to discuss the programme of works and the project was completed within the agreed time frame. The site was clean and well organised, despite the difficulties of working within the existing structure. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Company on any future projects.
