This project comprised the construction of a two-storey teaching block of approx 350 m2 in traditional blockwork, with oak cladding. Considerable quantities of oak were incorporated into the design to achieve the look of a traditional barn. An air source heat pump was incorporated as a source of renewable energy.
As with all projects in school environments there were numerous constraints. These included delivery restrictions, and working in close proximity to existing classrooms, which remained in use throughout the works.
Drew Construction accepted the restrictions of working in a busy school, and complied with them fully. The finished building reflects the care that was taken during construction, and any minor snags are being effectively dealt with.Bursar, Twyford School
